World has its attention on Nepal says Bishnu Rimal

First National Youth Committee Conference of Independent Transport Workers Association of Nepal (ITWAN) held on September 13, 2014 in  Kathmandu. Inaugurating the Conference GEFONT President  Bishnu Rimal said Trade Union leaders of the world impressed with the new approach show that GEFONT has potential to be the Trade Union Centre of South Asia

He further added - GEFONT journey began with its office in a bag and now 25 years after it has its own office building; With workers contribution it has established Solidarity fund and has expanded unions to base which could still be a challenge for any other trade union.Speaking about the upcoming trade union school and its ongoing preparation he said this is a new practice in trade union movement.

The conference has formed seven members committee. GEFONT Vice President Bidur Karki, & Affiliates leaders addressed the programme. The program was chaired by ITWAN President Rajiv Ghimere and  facilitated by General Secretary Bhim Jwala. 85 youth workers below 35 years attended the program

Selling Momos to help landslide victims

Members of ex Gurkha army family reserve unit in Brunei held a program to sell momos and collected the earning to help the landslide victim of Jure. According to Himkala Rai from Brunei, the collection of 64 thousand and 500 rupees was handed over to the Workers relief fund established by Central committee of Independent Transport Workers Association of Nepal and (ITWAN) and Araniko Route Truck Committee.

The fund was established in Banijya Bank , Balaju Branch after the landslide claimed life of four drivers, two conductors and their 49family members.President of Araniko Route Truck Committee, Durga Bahadur Shrestha informed that they have already handed over the relief fund collected in the first phase and will hand over the money sent from Brunei and other zonal committees soon.

Transport Workers threaten to strike

On the occasion of Bishwakarma puja, ITWAN Gorkha district committee organized gathering in Gorkha Bus Park where ITWAN General Secretary Bhimjwala Rai said the transport sector workers will go on strike if Traffic police and state continues to victimize the workers in the name of road management.

During the programme, Special Guest of the program chief District Officer of Gorkha, expressed his commitment to help and cooperate with the workers and the union.

Training to Gandaki ITWAN Leaders

Gandaki ITWAN organized a training program for  the local leaders of the zone. The training was about the changing context and challenges to leadership development . The program was inaugurated by Chief of Delegates Council Ishwor Prasad Acharya.     काठमाण्डौं । मलेसियामै मर्छु जस्तै लागेको थियो नेपाल आईपुगें खुशी छु झापा विर्तामोड १ का बृहसपति बिकले भने ।
     बैदेशिक रोजगारीका लागि २०७० साल पुस १९ गते मलेसिया पुगेका विकले मलेसियामा चार महिनापनि राम्ररी काम गर्न पाएनन् उनी गम्भिर दुर्घटनामा परे दुर्घटनामा उनको देव्रे नली खुट्टाका हाडहरु काम नलाग्नेगरी टुक्रा भएका छन् । उनी मलेसियाको रेफ्लेक्स केयर कम्पनी मार्फत क्वलालमपुर स्थित विमान स्थलमा कार्गो हेण्डलरका रुपमा कार्यरत थिए काम गरिरहेकै अवस्था २०७० साल चैत्र ३० गते झापा विर्तामोड १ का विक दुर्घटनामा परे । उडानका लागि सामान प्याक गर्नु पर्ने मेरो दैनिक १० देखि १२ घण्टाको काम थियो चैत्र ३ण् गते दिउसो करिव २ बजे काम गरिरहेको अवस्था फलामे बक्स भएको सामान सहितको ट्रली आएर पछाडीबाट डुडेर आएर मेरो खुट्टा भित्तामा चेप्ट्याईदियो मेरो खुट्टाको हाड फुटे एक छिनमै म बेहोस भएछु ब्युंझदा  तुवानकु जाफर अस्पताल थिएं ।
  नेपाल ट्रेड युनियन महासंघ जिफन्टको मलेसिया स्थित जिफन्ट सहयोग समुहको सहयोगमा  २०७१ साद भाद्र २७ गते नेपाल आईपुगेका बिक यतीवेला परिवारको साथमा खुशी छन् । तर उनले मलेसियाको अस्पतालमा रहदांको नारकिय जिवन कहिल्यै नभुल्ने बताए । पीडाले म चल्न सक्ने अवस्थामा थिईन, दिशा, पिसावमा डुवेर विताए जिफन्ट सहयोग समुह र जनक बिक नभएको भए म बाच्ने थिईन उनले भने  म यो गुन कहिल्यै विर्सन्न ।
    कम्पनीले उपचार गरिदिन आनाकानी गरेपछि अस्पतालले उपचारमा वास्ता गरेन, मसंग केही पैसा थियो त्यसैले उपचार खर्च गरे अरु नेपाली साथीहरुले समेत सहयोग गर्नु भयो करिव एक हप्तापछि जिफन्ट सहयोग समुहमा कुरा पुगेपछि भने राम्रो उपचार पाईएको बिकले बताए ।
    वोल्डवेज मेनपावर कम्पनी कोटेश्वरबाट १ लाख ५५ हजार तिरेर मलेसिया पुगेका विकको मलेसियामा रहदासम्मको उपचार खर्च करिव ६ लाख जिफन्ट सहयोग समुहको दवादमा कम्पनीले तिरेको बिकले बताए ।
   नेपाल ट्रेड युनियन महासंघ जिफन्ट प्रवासी डेस्कले बिकलाई क्षतीपुर्तीका लागि पहल गरिरहेको छ । कम्पनीबाट क्षतीपुर्ती दिलाउन मलेसियाका ट्रेड युनियनसंग पहल भईरहेको तथा वैदेशिक रोजगार प्रवद्र्धन बोर्ड तथा विमा कम्पनीबाट पाउने रकमका लागि समेत पहल भईरहेको जिफन्ट प्रवासी डेस्कका निशा बांनियाले बताउनु भयो ।
    एक छोरी, दुई छोराहरु र श्रीमतीलाई सुखमा राख्ने सपना बोकेर उनी विदेशिएका थिए तर नेपाल आईपुग्दा बिकसंग छतविछत खुट्टाको दुखि रहने पीडा र हातमा वैशाखी बाहेक अरु केही थिएन । भाद्र २९ गते दाईको साहारामा विर्तामोड फर्किने बेला उनले भने अब मंसंग कुनै शुखि जिवनको सपना भन्दा जिविकोपार्जन कसरी गर्ने भन्ने पीडाले यो खुट्टाको घाउभन्दा जोडले पोलिरहेकोछ ।

मम वेचेर पहिरो पीडितलाई सहयोग

काठमाण्डौं । बु्रनेईमा रहनुभएका नेपाली महिला समुहले मःम कार्यक्रम गरी मःम विक्रिबाट संकलित रकम जुरे पहिरो पीडितहरुलाई सहयोग गरेको छ ।
     नेपाल यातायात स्वतन्त्र मजदुर संगठन केन्द्रीय कमिटी तथा अरनिको रुट ट्रक ईकाई कमिटीद्धारा स्थापित मजदुर राहत कोषमा जम्मा हुने गरि ६४ हजार ५ सय रुपैया सहयोग प्रदान गरिएको ब्रुनेईबाट हिमकला राईले जानकारी दिनुभयो ।
   पहिरोमा परि चार जना चालक, दुई जना सह चालक सहित ४९ जना मजदुर परिवारका सदस्यले ज्यान गुमाएपछि सहयोगका लागि संगठनले राष्ट्रिय बाणिज्य बैंक बालाजु शाखामा ७६६७ नम्बरको खाता सञ्चालन गरेको थियो ।
     ब्रुनेईमा कार्यरत भूपू गोर्खा सैनिक परिवार गोर्खा रिजर्व युनिट महिला समुहका दिदी बहिनीहरुले मःम कार्यक्रम गरी विक्रिबाट संकलित रकम पहिरोमा ज्यान गुमाएका यातायात मजदुर परिवारहरुलाई प्रदान गर्न प्रदान गरेको हो ।
  पहिलो चरणमा प्राप्त सहयोग पीडित परिवारहरुलाई राहत हस्तान्तरण गरिसकेका छौं ब्रुनेईबाट आएको रकम तथा अन्य अञ्चल कमिटीहरुबाट आउन बाकीं रकम आईसकेपछि हामी पुनः हस्तान्तरण गर्छौं संगठनका अरनिको रुट ट्रक ईकाईका अध्यक्ष दुर्गावहादुर श्रेष्ठले बताउनु भयो ।

Sherpa’s Body has not arrived

Kathmandu. A Nepali migrant worker in Qatar lost his life from electrocution. His body has still not arrived in Nepal even after 10 days of his death.

Resident of Panchthar Ekten Lasune , Nurku Sherpa died from electrocution on August 31 in his room at 9 PM. 36 years old Sherpa had left for Qatar to work as Helper through Royal Manpower company, Lazimpat on March 4 , 2008. GEFONT Support Group (GSG) member Ganesh Baral Magar informed the body was taken for postmortem in Hummad in Qatar but has not provided with the report yet causing the delay in sending the body.

He also informed that GSG is taking necessary step to identify legal process to send Sherpa’s body home and to claim his right to benefit and compensation from the company.

Relief distribution to Landslide victim workers

Kathmandu,  Araniko Route Truck Local Committee of Independent Transport Workers’ Association of Nepal (ITWAN) has provided with relief materials to the families of transport workers who lost their lives in landslide occurred in Jure, Sindhuplachok district. 15 workers lost their house and 49 workers lost their lives in this landslide.

The relief material handover program was held on August 30, Saturday in Kathmandu. Families of Late Shyam Shrestha, Lal Bahadur Tamang, Ganeshlal Shrestha, Surya Tamang, Suresh Tamang and Sujan Tamang received relief materials from GEFONT President Bishnu Rimal, who was chief guest of the event.

ITWAN also provided relief material to the member transport workers who lost their relatives in the landslide. Krishna Tamang, Ramesh Shrestha, Panchalal Shrestha, Ram Bahadur Tamang, Chandra Tamang, Durgalal Shrestha, Jayaram Parajuli, Rubin Poudel and Dinesh Shrestha Recieved relief materials. 

On the appeal of ITWAN, Araniko Route Truck Local committee had established the relied fund with Rs. One lakh one thousand one hundred and 11 rupees. And, with the aid from ITWAN’s local committees all over Nepal, Araniko Route Truck Committee collected four lakh 48 thousand four hundred and 56 rupees in the fund.

Speaking at the event, GEFONT President Rimal said When state failed to do its duty and provide relief fund to natural disaster victims, ITWAN and Araniko Route Truck Committee set an example of humanitarian practice done from their own initiatives.

Transport Sector Workers’ children who passed SLC of 2070 B.S were also felicitated and awarded money prize; Children with distinction were awarded Rs. 15 thousand, children with First division were awarded 10 thousand and second and third division with five and one thousand.  Cde. Bishnu Rimal handed over the certificate of appreciation and prize money.  The Event was chaired by Cde. Durga Bahadur Shrestha, President of Araniko Route Truck Committee and facilitated by Cde. Jiwan Khadka, Secretary of the Committee.

शेर्पाको शव नेपाल आउन ढिला

काठमाण्डौं । कतारमा कार्यरत एक नेपाली प्रवासी श्रमिकको करेण्ट लागेर मृत्यू भएको दश दिन वितिसक्दा समेत उनको शव नेपाल आउन सकेको छैन । 

  पांचथर एक्तेन लसुने ८ का नुर्कु शेपाको यही भदौ १५ गते राती ९ वजे कोठामा करेण्ट लागेर मृत्यू भएको थियो । शेर्पाको शव पोष्ट मार्टमका लागि कतारको हमदमा राखिएको भएपनि लाश प्रकृति मुचुल्काको प्रतिवेदन आईनसकेकोले शेर्पाको शव नेपाल पठाउन ढिलाईभईरहेको कतारस्थित जिफन्ट सपोर्ट ग्रुपका गणेश बराल मगरले जानकारी गराउनुभयो । 

 शेर्पाको शव नेपाल पठाउनका लागि आवश्यक कानुनी प्रकृयाहरु तथा उनले कम्पनीबाट पाउने सेवा, सुविधा तथा अन्य क्षतीपुर्तीको विषयमा जिफन्ट सपोर्ट ग्रुप कतारले आवश्यक काम गरिरहेको पनि वहांले बताउनु भयो ।

  ३६ वर्षीय शेर्पा २०६४ फागुन २१ गते रोयल मेनपावर कम्पनी लाजिम्पाटबाट हेल्परको भिसामा कतार गएका थिए ।
