Kathmandu, Araniko Route Truck Local Committee of
Independent Transport Workers’ Association of Nepal (ITWAN) has provided with
relief materials to the families of transport workers who lost their lives in
landslide occurred in Jure, Sindhuplachok district. 15 workers lost their house
and 49 workers lost their lives in this landslide.
The
relief material handover program was held on August 30, Saturday in Kathmandu. Families
of Late Shyam Shrestha, Lal Bahadur Tamang, Ganeshlal Shrestha, Surya Tamang,
Suresh Tamang and Sujan Tamang received relief materials from GEFONT President
Bishnu Rimal, who was chief guest of the event.
ITWAN
also provided relief material to the member transport workers who lost their
relatives in the landslide. Krishna Tamang, Ramesh Shrestha, Panchalal
Shrestha, Ram Bahadur Tamang, Chandra Tamang, Durgalal Shrestha, Jayaram
Parajuli, Rubin Poudel and Dinesh Shrestha Recieved relief materials.
On
the appeal of ITWAN, Araniko Route Truck Local committee had established the
relied fund with Rs. One
lakh one thousand one hundred and 11 rupees. And, with the aid from
ITWAN’s local committees all over Nepal, Araniko Route Truck Committee
collected four lakh 48
thousand four hundred and 56 rupees in the fund.
Speaking
at the event, GEFONT President Rimal said When state failed to do its duty and
provide relief fund to natural disaster victims, ITWAN and Araniko Route Truck
Committee set an example of humanitarian practice done from their own
initiatives.
Transport
Sector Workers’ children who passed SLC of 2070 B.S were also felicitated and
awarded money prize; Children with distinction were awarded Rs. 15 thousand,
children with First division were awarded 10 thousand and second and third
division with five and one thousand.
Cde. Bishnu Rimal handed over the certificate of appreciation and prize
money. The Event was chaired by Cde.
Durga Bahadur Shrestha, President of Araniko Route Truck Committee and
facilitated by Cde. Jiwan Khadka, Secretary of the Committee.
